Blue laser diode module

Recently, some consumer video projectors have started using visible-wavelength laser diodes for the blue image illumination. Many people are now buying brand new video projectors, and immediately scrapping them to yield the laser diodes for a tiny fraction of the cost of buying them directly from the manufacturer! Here is a custom-designed blue laser source, using a diode removed from a Casio XJ-A140 video projector. From left-to-right you can see the anamorphic prism pair, diode and collimating lens, constant-current diode driver, and transistors for modulating the diode and TEC current.
